## 2. Summary of Implementation & Changes

1. **Repository Hygiene (`.gitignore`):**
   - Added `data/*.json`, `!data/.gitkeep`, `reports/*.tar.gz`, `reports/*.sha256`.
   - Prevented disposable test state from leaking into release diffs.
2. **Centralized Fail-Closed Canary Policy (`packages/common/src/canary-policy.js`):**
   - Strictly parses `CANARY_MERCHANT_ALLOWLIST`. Fails closed if missing, blank, or malformed.
   - Enforces `YOUPI_VERIFICATION_POLICY === 'REQUIRE_DUAL_CHANNEL'` during canary mode.
   - Enforces that client metadata `agencyVvisaUid` cannot forge access to an unauthorized merchant.
3. **Session Entry Point Protection:**
   - `apps/payment-api/src/routes/payments.routes.js`: Protected via `evaluateCanaryMerchantEligibility`.
   - `apps/payment-api/src/routes/checkout.routes.js`: Device rebinding (`handleEndAndRestartPayment`) protected before terminating old or creating new sessions.
   - `packages/db/src/repositories/payment-session.repository.js`: Database-level boundary assertion in `create(data)` prevents direct injection bypass.
4. **Node.js Engine Alignment (`package.json`):**
   - Updated declared engine to `"node": ">=22.5.0"`.
   - Validated against Node 22 (VM runtime) and Node 24 (local & CI runtime).
5. **Test Coverage:**
   - Added `packages/common/src/__tests__/canary-policy.test.js` (12 unit tests).
